Database Administrator

Job Description

DataMinds Analytics processes billions of data points daily for clients in finance, retail and telecoms, and we need a Database Administrator to keep our PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL Server estates fast, reliable and secure from our Bangalore data engineering hub. You will own backup strategies, replication topologies, query optimisation and capacity planning across hundreds of database instances. Our Bangalore hub manages database estates for clients in banking, telecoms and e-commerce, including several multi-terabyte PostgreSQL clusters with demanding performance SLAs.

Working alongside data engineers and platform teams, you will also help shape our move towards managed cloud databases and automation-first operations. This role offers deep technical challenges, on-call compensation, and funded training towards cloud database certifications. You will also build self-service database provisioning for engineering teams, lead our quarterly disaster-recovery drills, and receive funded training towards AWS Database Specialty certification.

Responsibilities

Administer PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL Server instances across production
Design and maintain backup, restore and disaster-recovery procedures
Optimise slow queries, indexing strategies and database performance
Manage replication, clustering and high-availability configurations
Monitor database health and respond to alerts within SLAs
Implement access controls and support security audit requirements

Requirements

3-5 years of DBA experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL in production
Strong SQL skills and query performance-tuning expertise
Experience with replication, partitioning and backup tooling
Familiarity with AWS RDS / Azure Database or similar managed services
Scripting ability in Python or Bash for automation
Understanding of database security and compliance controls
