Backend Developer (Python)

Job Description

DataMinds Analytics is looking for a Backend Developer (Python) to join our fully remote engineering team building data pipelines and APIs that process billions of events daily. Working from Ireland with colleagues across Europe, you will develop high-throughput Python services using FastAPI and Django, optimise PostgreSQL and ClickHouse queries, and help evolve our event-driven architecture. You will join our streaming ingestion squad, which maintains pipelines processing over fifty billion events monthly for clients in finance and telecommunications.

We are a remote-first company with strong async communication practices, so you will have deep focus time alongside collaborative design sessions. Visa sponsorship is available, and we fly the whole team together twice a year for onsites in Dublin and Barcelona. You will also contribute to our open-source Python libraries, participate in fortnightly architecture guilds, and receive funded training towards AWS Developer Associate certification.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain Python backend services with FastAPI and Django
Design REST and GraphQL APIs consumed by web and mobile clients
Optimise database queries and data models for high-volume workloads
Implement event-driven integrations using Kafka and RabbitMQ
Write comprehensive tests and participate in code reviews
Monitor production systems and respond to incidents

Requirements

3-5 years of professional Python backend development experience
Strong knowledge of FastAPI or Django and async programming
Solid PostgreSQL skills including indexing and query optimisation
Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and Redis
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
Comfortable working remotely with strong written communication
