Deep Learning Engineer

Job Description

DataMinds Analytics is seeking a Deep Learning Engineer for our Tokyo computer-vision practice serving manufacturing and retail clients. You will design CNN and vision-transformer models for defect detection, shelf analytics and quality inspection — taking models from prototype to edge deployment on factory floors. Our Tokyo practice deploys vision systems in factories across Japan, where your models inspect thousands of components hourly with superhuman consistency.

We sponsor visas, provide Japanese lessons, and offer work on physically-grounded AI problems with real-world impact. You will collaborate with Japanese enterprise clients, publish case studies, and grow into a recognised vision-AI specialist. You will also build our synthetic-data generation pipeline, work with robotics partners on integrated solutions, and receive funded training at leading computer-vision conferences.

Responsibilities

Design deep learning models for computer vision applications
Train and optimise CNNs and vision transformers on large datasets
Deploy models to edge devices (Jetson, mobile) with quantization
Build data pipelines for image collection and annotation
Evaluate model performance and handle domain-shift challenges
Work directly with enterprise clients on solution design

Requirements

4-7 years of deep learning experience with vision focus
Strong PyTorch skills and CNN/transformer knowledge
Experience with object detection and segmentation frameworks
Familiarity with edge deployment (TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO)
Understanding of MLOps for vision systems
Client-facing communication skills
