DAAD EPOS Development-Related Postgraduate Courses Scholarship – Germany (for Pakistani Students)

DAAD's Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) programme funds professionals from developing and newly industrialised countries, including Pakistan, to complete a postgraduate or master's degree at German universities.

Scholarship Details

  • Fully funded postgraduate or master's degree at a state or state-recognised German university (in exceptional cases a doctoral degree) for professionals from developing and newly industrialised countries.
  • Monthly stipend of €992 for graduates (€1,300 for doctoral candidates, rising to €1,400 from February 2026).
  • Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover.
  • Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another funding source.
  • Possible monthly rent subsidy and monthly allowance for accompanying family members under certain circumstances.
  • Funding duration of 12 to 42 months depending on the chosen study programme.
  • Applications go directly to the chosen postgraduate course, never to DAAD; candidates may apply for up to three courses and must rank them by priority.

Eligibility for Pakistani Applicants

  • Graduates with at least two years' professional experience from a developing or newly industrialised country on the DAAD DAC list (Pakistan is included).
  • A bachelor's degree, normally a four-year course, in a related subject, completed with far above average results (upper third).
  • Academic degrees should normally not be more than six years old at the time of application.
  • Applicants resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline cannot be considered.
  • Development-related motivation and willingness to take on social responsibility after the training.
  • For English-taught courses: proof of adequate English skills (IELTS or TOEFL; institutional TOEFL not accepted). For German-taught courses: at least B1 German at application.

Required Documents

  • DAAD checklist, EPOS application form, Europass CV, motivation letter, employer recommendation and employment certificates, language proof, degree certificates and transcripts.

Important Dates

  • No fixed deadline published — application deadlines differ by study programme; DAAD publishes a list of all postgraduate courses with application deadlines for 2027/2028.

How to Apply

Send the complete application directly to up to three chosen EPOS postgraduate courses listed on the DAAD site, each application including the DAAD checklist, EPOS application form, Europass CV, motivation letter, employer recommendation and employment certificates, language proof, degree certificates and transcripts; a course selection committee nominates candidates, and DAAD then contacts nominees to upload their documents to the DAAD Portal.
