Pakistani students heading to Spain for studies of more than 90 days need a national study visa. Applications are handled by BLS International, the official visa application centre for Spain in Pakistan, and the requirements below follow the official Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs study-visa checklist published by BLS.
Visa Requirements
- National visa application form, completed and signed (a parent or legal representative signs for minors).
- One recent passport-size colour photograph with a light background, taken head-on.
- Valid passport: original and a copy of the biometric data page(s); valid for at least one year, with at least two blank pages; passports issued more than 10 years ago are not accepted.
- Proof of admission and payment of registration/tuition at an educational centre in Spain authorised to run the study programme (original and copy).
- Proof of financial means: at least 100% of the IPREM per month for the student (the official BLS checklist cites IPREM 2025 at β¬600/month or β¬7,200/year) β original and copy.
- Public or private health insurance with an insurer authorised to operate in Spain, valid for the planned stay (original and copy).
- For stays over 180 days (applicants over the age of criminal responsibility): criminal record certificate from the country or countries of residence in the last 5 years.
- Medical certificate confirming the applicant does not suffer from diseases with serious public-health repercussions under the International Health Regulations 2005 (original and copy).
- Proof of residence within the consular district (original and copy).
- Payment of the visa fee.
- All foreign documents must be legalised or apostilled and translated into Spanish (bank statements in English or French are excepted).
Application Process
- 1. Secure admission and pay your tuition at an authorised Spanish educational centre.
- 2. Gather, legalise/apostille and translate all documents into Spanish.
- 3. Book an appointment on the official BLS Spain Pakistan website β BLS centres operate in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore; applications must be submitted in person.
- 4. Submit documents and biometrics at the centre and keep your submission receipt.
- 5. Apply at least two months before your studies begin; if the decision is favourable, the consulate issues the visa within a maximum of one month.
- 6. For stays over 180 days the visa is valid for 365 days, and you must apply for a Foreignerβs Identity Card (TIE) within one month of entering Spain.
Fees & Processing Time
- Visa fee: the exact current amount in PKR is not published on the official BLS checklist β confirm it on the official BLS Pakistan website before your appointment. The fee is non-refundable.
- Processing: submit your application at least two months before the start of studies; the visa is issued within a maximum of one month once the residence decision is favourable.
