SAP is hiring an intermediate-level SAP S/4HANA (Basis) Engineer for its newly created Global Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations business unit, part of SAP Product Engineering. The role manages daily cloud operations of SAP's Sovereign Cloud offering for the public sector and regulated industries in Germany. Requisition ID 457768, posted 22 August 2026. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design, implement, monitor, maintain and optimise SAP S/4HANA systems for SAP Sovereign Cloud in Germany. Set up multi-system landscape architecture and integration aspects between heterogeneous system technologies. Provide on-call support for incidents and performance degradations. Continuously improve implementation documentation and partner with the engineering team to design and enhance cloud operation processes. Manage periodic maintenance activities, refreshes, patching and upgrades.

REQUIREMENTS
Between 1 and 3 years of SAP experience, with at least 1 year of hands-on exposure to SAP S/4HANA, plus practical experience in implementation, upgrade or support of S/4HANA systems. Bachelor's degree, disaster recovery exposure, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience with SAP on Windows/Linux and HANA environments. Willingness to work 24/7 on-call duties and shifts, maintain daily office presence, and undergo a governmental security clearance process due to the classified nature of the work.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, monitor, maintain and optimise SAP S/4HANA systems for SAP Sovereign Cloud in Germany. Set up multi-system landscape architecture and integration between heterogeneous system technologies. Provide on-call support for incidents and performance degradations. Work across the service delivery lifecycle to analyse, design, build, test, implement and maintain system components. Manage periodic maintenance activities, refreshes, patching and upgrades.

Requirements

Between 1 and 3 years of SAP experience, with at least 1 year of hands-on exposure to SAP S/4HANA. At least 1 year of practical experience in implementation, upgrade, or support of SAP S/4HANA systems. Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field. Some exposure to disaster recovery planning and testing. Problem-solving mindset with troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Practical experience with SAP systems on Windows/Linux OS and HANA environments. Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment with on-call duties and shifts. Commitment to daily office presence (Berlin, Munich or St. Leon Rot). Willingness to undergo a governmental security clearance process. Good knowledge of AWS/Azure/GCP and Terraform/Ansible is a plus.
